DAY 01: Arrival at Leh – Transfer to Hotel:

  • After arriving at Srinagar by train at your own cost, you will be heading towards Leh by sharing cab at your own cost.
  • After breakfast rest for the day at the hotel for acclimatization to the high altitude.
  • Evening visit Shanti Stupa and explore Leh Market.
  • Overnight at Leh | Pro Tip: Eat light and drink sufficient water to keep yourself hydrated.

DAY 02: Excursion to the Sham Valley: 90 km (Half Day)

  • After a leisurely breakfast, drive towards the confluence of Indus & Zanskar; en-route witness the gravity-defying phenomenon of the Magnetic Hill and gawk at amazing views of the airport from Spituk Monastery.
  • Gurudwara Pather Sahib, built to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev to Ladakh in 1517 has a story waiting to be heard.
  • On your way back, pay homage to the war heroes at The Hall of Fame.
  • Overnight at The Leh | Pro Tip: The evening Light & Sound Show at the Hall of Fame is awesome.

DAY 03: Leh – Hunder, Nubra Valley via Khardung La (5259 m): 130 km (05 hours)

  • Post a leisurely breakfast, we drive north to Nubra Valley, also known as the valley of flowers, via the famous Khardungla (17,852 ft.) which was for a very long time called the highest motorable road in the world. It is the primary gateway to the Shyok and Nubra valleys, Warila (17,427 ft.) being the secondary gateway.
  • Hunder is a vast expanse of green with crystal clear glacial streams crisscrossing the cultivable land abound with apricots, walnuts, almonds, apples and various fruits and flowers. Arrive at the resort and rest for some time.
  • The Sand dunes of Nubra is home to the double-humped Bactrian camels. Visit the Hunder sand dunes in the evening to enjoy an amazing sunset. 
  • Overnight at Nubra | Pro Tip: A Camel Safari on the sand dunes can be a lot of fun.

DAY 04: Nubra Valley – Excursion to Turtuk Village: 180 km (06 hours)

  • Post a leisurely breakfast, drive to Turtuk, a picture-perfect balti village on the India – Pakistan LOC, going past Thoise – the military airport servicing Siachen Glacier.
  • Turtuk was occupied by Pakistan before the 1971 war and one can still see the remains of wartime bunkers. The drive meandering along the Shayok river offers amazing views. Turtuk is one of the very few places in India where one can witness Balti culture. It is the last major village where tourists are allowed before the Line of Control.
  • Overnight at Nubra | Pro Tip: You may choose to buy organic apricots and related products in Turtuk.

DAY 05: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso via Shayok: 160 km (06 hours)

  • Embark on a picturesque drive from Hunder, visiting the Majestic Deskit Monastery en route to Pangong Tso, an endorheic lake in the Changthang region situated at a height of 4,350 m.
  • The lake is 134 km long and extends from India to China covering 604 sq. km. During winter the lake freezes solid, despite being saline water.
  • The journey is very pleasant with the road meandering alongside Shayok river, though there are some rough patches and water crossing which can be a bit of a challenge.
  • After crossing Agham & Durbuk, we will reach Changthang, a region that is quite popular for its scenic beauty, lakes, wildlife and is home of the Changpa tribe, a nomadic and pastoral community.
  • Spend a starlit night at the retreat, enjoying the surreal views of the milky way like a highway.
  • Overnight at Pangong | Pro Tip: Leave early to avoid getting stuck at water crossings.

DAY 06: Pangong Tso to Leh via Chang La (5,360 m): 145 km (05 hours)

  • Enjoy a picturesque sunrise at Pangong Tso. It is almost meditative to look at the changing colours of the lake and the surrounding landscape. Pangong Tso is in Changthang, a high altitude plateau.
  • Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary is home to many rare species of flora and fauna and the nomads roam the pastures with their herds of cattle. The famous Pashmina goat is found here in abundance.
  • After your breakfast drive back to Leh, crossing Chang La (17,590 ft.), a high altitude pass, It will leave you breathless, with the sheer beauty and altitude.
  • A quick stop at The Thiksey monastery before Leh.
  • Overnight at Leh | Pro Tip: Eat light and keep some chocolates handy.

DAY 07: Departure from Leh

  • Time to bid adieu to the lovely landscape of Ladakh. Since most flights are early in the morning, we will arrange your timely transfer to the airport.
  • If you earlier missed out on clicking photographs of the mighty Himalayas, today you have another chance to capture some amazing clicks of Indus & Chenab rivers, Kyagar Tso & Tso Moriri lakes, Indrasan, Mulkila, Nun Kun & many more peaks and glaciers.
  • It’s a flight of Fancy and a befitting climax to the magical journey of Ladakh. Pro Tip: Pre-book window seats to enjoy the views.
